House Panel OK's "Blue Lives Matter" Bill

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- A legislative panel approves a bill that would make targeting a police officer or first responder a hate crime.

The House Judiciary Committee OK'd the so-called "Blue Lives Matter" bill.

The legislation moves forward, despite opposition from such groups as Black Lives Matter.   They argue that police officers, firefighters and EMT's should not be a protected class because their occupation is optional.
