LOUISVILLE, Ky -- Move over bourbon, Louisville is now ranked among the top American beer travel destinations...-- The website VinePair listed Louisville as 9th in its top ten "Beercation" destinations...just ahead of Boise, ID but behind St. Louis, Rio De Janeiro, Seoul, Beijing, Madison-Wisconsin, Chicago and Top Ranked Richmond-Virginia.
There are now 40 craft breweries operating in the state, 15 of them in Louisville. Ten years ago there was no beer related tourism in the city or state. Derek Selznick with the Kentucky Guild of Brewers says In the past year there has been a 30-percent increase in production and workforce growth across the state. He says brewers are working to connect their product to genuine Kentucky experiences which is pushing the number of "Beer-cations" higher.
