CIA Director Haspel Speaks At UofL Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The nation's top spy is coming to Louisville Monday.

CIA Director Gina Haspel will be at the University of Louisville to take part in the McConnell Center's Distinguished Speaker Series.

A UofL graduate and native of Ashland, Kentucky, Haspel will deliver remarks and take questions about her career in national security.

Haspel was confirmed to be the first female director of the CIA in May.  Her nomination was controversial because of her role in the Bush administration's detention and interrogation program.   Among her critics is Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul.

Haspel is the second CIA director to appear as a McConnell Center guest.  The first was David Patraeus in 2012.
