Kentucky House Republican Blocks Disaster Aid Bill

Members Of Congress Call For Release Of Intelligence Findings On 9/11 Attacks

(Washington, DC) - A Kentucky House Republican is blocking a $19 billion disaster relief bill.

The Senate-approved bill would provide aid funding to parts of the U.S. hit by hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes and wildfires.

Rep. Thomas Massie became the second representative to object to passing the measure by unanimous consent after Texas Republican Chip Roy did during a similar vote last week.

Massie said Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have called a vote on the bill before Congress went on their week-long recess for Memorial Day.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says that the chamber will attempt to pass the bill again later this week.
