(Louisville, KY) - School resource officers won't be on duty when JCPS students return to class on August 14th.

The Jefferson County Board of Education split on a vote Tuesday night over contracts for SROs.

The three-three vote means contracts with the Jeffersontown and Shively police departments, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were not approved.

The vote comes after Metro Council approved a budget that removes 17 LMPD officers from schools to put them back on the streets.
