LOUISVILLE, Ky-- Even if you never ever take public transportation, Derby weekend might be a good time to consider it. You could save on high-priced fuel, and save even more on parking, with each fare running you only $1.75.
TARC's Barry Barker says heading to Churchill Downs early, and most of the day Friday & Saturday, 3 routes will get you close to the track, only a couple blocks' walk away. Heading away from Churchill after 4:30 each day though, it'll be more of a hike for one route. The biggest change is you'll only be able to catch the northbound #4 bus back to downtown on Crittenden Drive then. Numbers 6 & 29 will still be fairly close, on Taylor Boulevard and Winkler Avenue, respectively.
Barker says TARC's doing something else for everyone Friday night, Derby Eve, too. After 6:00, the buses and trolleys will run for free. Barker says it's a great way to have a designated driver.
