REALLY ROOM TO STRETCH OUT AT THE TEAMSTER'S HALL The latest union numbers are not good.  If you're a union member, that is.  Unions are representing a smaller group of the voting public.  And by default a smaller bloc that Democrats can take for granted.  And launder money from government contracts to the Democrats.  I'll explain. 

HEY ALL YOU NBA-TO-LOUISVILLE FOLKS If I see one more news story like this one in Insider Louisville that posits an NBA franchise will be able to sign on to play in the YUM! Center, I will scream.  I have one thing to say to such nonsense.  Read the lease with UofL.  UofL has the most ridiculous lease agreement ever with the Yum.  And knowing what I know about NBA franchises and arena deals from watching the Orlando Magic, the UofL lease MUST be renegotiated before an NBA team could come close to getting the kind of deal THEY would want to come play here.  And you can call Tom Jurich and ask him if he'd be willing to renegotiate to make that happen.  I bet I know what he'd say.  And FYI, I've read the lease.  It's appalling.

NO DEATH PENALTY FOR YOU! The new Commonwealth Attorney is switching gears when it comes to the death penalty.  And it's a change that I think is a good one.  However, if you are the loved one of a victim, and you want him to seek the death penalty, do you still leave it up to him?  Death penalty is always tough, and I sure as heck wouldn't sit on a death penalty jury. 

PENSION REFORM...UM...SOMETIME THIS YEAR...MAYBE? Even though the Commonwealth is facing a hot mess on pension reform, I still see that even if they switch new hires to a market based 401k plan, they are still planning on having the taxpayers guarantee a 4% return.  I'm sure nothing could go wrong here.  Why would you focus on a balanced 401k when you knew whatever stupid risky choices you made, you were still going to earn 4%?  Grow up and move on.  The rest of us are sick of paying for plans way better than the ones we have. 

TAKE THAT SMOKERS I've been saying for years that Medicaid recipients should be forced to be responsible for their crappy lifestyle choices like smoking.  Well it seems Obamacare won't do it for Medicaid patients, but they will allow insurers to do it to smokers who are buying their insurance.  If you voted for Obama and you smoke, HA.  For the rest of you, sorry the rest of the country is not smart enough to listen to people who warn this is going to happen.  Don't laugh fat people, you're next.

I OWE A HUGE THANKS TO ONE CALLER I had a caller a couple of Friday's ago who was complaining about the Common Core Standards and how they were dumbing things down for teacher's in Indiana and elswewhere.  I poopooed her because I stupidly took the hype at face value and hadn't investigated what the ACTUAL standards were.  I owe her both an apology and thanks for making me start to investigate what this stuff is.  And it's not good.  Michelle Malkin is on it.  Part 2 of her series is here.  Please go back and read Part 1.
