SO I SAW ARGO THIS WEEKEND And it was good, but if that's the BEST picture this year, I'm glad I didn't rush out to see more movies.  Rush was right when he said it won Best Picture this year because Hollywood was the hero in this movie. 

WHY ZERO TOLERANCE POLICIES ARE STUPID A student in Florida brings a gun to school and brandishes at another kid.  The kid with the gun pointed at him talks the gun toter out of his loaded weapon.  His reward for saving the day?  A three day suspension for being part of an "incident".  Are principals not smart enough to make these decisions for themselves?  This is completely stupid.

WHAT?  IT'S NOT THE APOCALYPSE?  YOU DON'T SAY. The White House is now backing off the gloom and doom predictions about the sequester.  I'm telling you, there is a chance this might work for the Republicans.  If they don't screw it up. 

UM, WHY IS DHS DOING THIS? First billions of rounds of ammo, now Mine Resistant vehicles.  For use IN the U.S.  Why?  It is kind of creepy. 

SO SEQUESTER IS AWFUL...BUT HERE'S 250 MIL FOR EGYPT Apparently Secretary of State John Kerry didn't get the memo that we are cutting spending.  He just gave out 250 million to Egypt and 60 million to Syrian rebels.  Hmmm.  Someone needs to take away his checkbook. And can anyone make me understand why we are giving money to the Muslim Brotherhood?  They aren't exactly fans of the Western world.

THE AP JUST FOUND OUT THE RICH HAVE BEEN PAYING A "FAIR SHARE" This article says "new analysis" shows rich people pay WAY more of the income tax burden than the rest of us.  Except these statistics have been available for years to those who cared.  The only "new" part of this story is that the evil rich are now paying more in taxes than they've paid since The Tax Policy group began measuring in 1979.  So much for the Clinton tax rates.

UNEMPLOYMENT IS WORSE THAN IT SEEMS. Mort Zuckerman lays out how unemployment is far worse than it is reported because government programs keep them out of sight.  Better organization of relief programs hides the real numbers.  But Zuckerman lays it out.  And it's sad.
