"IT COULD BE A UNANIMOUS VOTE" That is a quote from House Ag Committee Chairman and former hemp bill obstructionist Rep. Tom McKee. The bill will come up for a vote on Wednesday and should pass out of his committee. Now it's up to Greg Stumbo to bring it up on the floor. We may need more phone calls. But give yourselves credit for a win here. Phone calls DO matter. Making your voice heard DOES make a difference. Now if we could all get as fired up for pension and tax reform.
I FEEL TERRIBLE THAT GOVERNMENT IS KILLING COAL JOBS But a quote in this story has me irritated.
"Getting the grant ... is huge for us to really be able to help our miners at a time when they're desperately in need of it," Whitehead said. "That's what these guys have been paying their taxes for."
No, that's not what they've paying their taxes for. Taxes are not supposed to be paid so when you lose your job the government can step in and make sure you're retrained to do something else. That's not in the contract. This is another job government is taking credit for solving when government created the problem in the first place.
PAYING FOR PARKING AT THE ZOO I'm sure there are some ruffled feathers about the Louisville Zoo charging $5 for parking now. Me, not so much. Buy an annual pass and parking is included. You have to pay to park pretty much everywhere else now, why not let users pay more of the freight?
IF YOU WERE IRAN, WOULD YOU BE WORRIED? Does anyone else not believe that President Obama would go to war with Iran? I'm not anxious to see that happen AT ALL, but the words Joe Biden says have no real threat behind them in my eyes, making them just words. I can't see this President going to Congress and making the case for war. And what the heck would the Democrats do in that case? I just don't see it. Especially in light of this new book which is not complimentary towards the President's foreign policy decision making.
SPEAKING OF OBAMA'S FOREIGN POLICY He needs to do something about North Korea. There are American soldiers in the DMZ and if this nutbar in North Korea ends the cease fire, they are in a war zone. Perhaps it's time to negotiate peace. With a crazy person. Tha should go well.
THE SEQUESTER IS A LONG TERM WIN? So says NRO and they make a good point. Read it here.
