IF YOU MISSED THE INTERVIEW WITH THE DENVER REPORTER Check it out on the 10am hour of the podcast yesterday. The reporter was utterly condescending when I asked him what the PEOPLE of Colorado thought about the new gun control legislation signed by Governor Hickenlooper yesterday. He said something to the effect of, the legislators aren't concerned with what the people think. So I decided to get someone who would know what the people think, and KHOW Talk Host Michael Brown joins me at 11 to clarify.
WHY IS SCALPING ILLEGAL? If you sell tickets above face value outside Rupp arena you get arrested. If you do it on StubHub, it's no big whoop. Please explain why this is?
WHY ARE WE POOPOOING SERIOUS POTENTIAL VOTER FRAUD? I am 100% in favor of making sure that military ballots get counted. As those in harm's way who voluntarily protect our nation, the military should be the first to be counted. However, I'd prefer that we don't barrel toward a system that is rife with the potential of voter fraud. Not only is Florida dealing with this problem already, when you consider how many incidents of hacking we've had of late (just ask Wikileaks) I would prefer to proceed with caution. Perhaps we should be asking why it takes so long for the ballot to be created.
SINGLE MOTHERS PRODUCE SLACKER SONS? Gotta tell you, I am SHOCKED that this article in the NYTimes because it begins to extrapolate what I have long feared: that single parenthood is causing a real problem for future generations. A study ponders why men seem to be losing ground economically. I have some theories that I will be happy to share with you. Not having a father DOES matter. If you are a father, I beg you to never forget that.
WHY NOT CHARGE DOGGIE ADMISSION? There is a group of dog lovers who are trying to make sure that irresponsible dog owners don't ruin the Big Four bridge for the responsible ones. They want dog walkers to sign a pledge to pick up after their dogs. Honestly, I like the initiative, but I don't think it will work. The only way to have the best chance people will scoop is by providing poop bags on the bridge. And maybe a $1 doggie ticket to walk could fund it. I'd pay it if I wanted to walk my dog on the bridge if it meant some other jerk wouldn't leave land mines across the span.
WE'RE FAT, WE SMOKE AND GET A LOT OF STDs The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation (a very left leaning group who I am positive are part of the Illuminati *adjuststinfoilhat*) has come up with their latest county by county rankings of health. Oldham County, you are awesome! Jefferson County, not so much. 24% of us smoke, 34% of us are obese and apparently erebody is getting the clap. When you compare us to the nation, things are even more bleak. Seems we need to drop the butts, close our legs and start using them to jog instead. One number that jumped out at me: children living in single parent homes. Oldham: 18% while over in Jefferson: 41% A similar gap exists for children living in poverty.
