REECHIE'S ROCKING A BEARD! I don't know why I am more fascinated by Richie Farmer's beard than I am his arraignment, but alas, I am. Check it out here. He's kinda looking like Colonel Sanders a bit, don't you think? And I thought he was broke, so how does he have the cash for a Mexican vacation? And not for nothing, what kind of woman wants to go on vacation with an unemployed ex basketball star facing indictment? Girlfriend, you need an intervention.
A TINY LEAD IS STILL A TINY LEAD New Hampshire voters are already being polled about 2016 because apparently there is nothing else going on in New Hampshire. As if it really matters, Rand Paul was the fave by a hair for Republicans. Hillary Clinton apparently needs to only announce to lock up New Hampshire. But as it's 2013, I can't get too fired up about any of this. File it under interesting but ultimately utterly unimportant.
SUING TO KEEP DOUBLE DIPPING!!! Now THIS I can get fired up about. When the Legislature moved to stop double dipping in 2008 they simply said if you retire and then come right back to work, your pension payments would stop as long as you were employed by the State. Now apparently some jackasses are SUING to stop the stoppage. THIS is why we need transparency. We need to know who is doing this and who wants to do this. And we need to yell at them until they stop. I've long said I am not mad at government employees who exploited the overly generous system, but these people have ticked me off. Greedy pigs.
DEM TALKING POINTS OF THE DAY Congress is passing a fix so the FAA can stop furloughing air traffic controllers and hold up air travel. Funny thing about this article is it includes two Dem talking points, one new and one an oldie. First, note the use of the phrase Whac-a-Mole. Where have we heard that recently? Second, a Dem Senator laments that no 3 year old is going to call and complain about being kicked out his Head Start program. Head Start has been proven ineffective by the Department of Education (all gains are lost by 3rd grade) yet it continues because it provides free day care for a big block of Democrat voters. But it's FOR THE CHHHHHIIIIILLLLLLLLDDDDREEENNNNNN! Pfft.
A RED LINE ONLY MATTERS IF THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES As a parent, I know that if I threaten The Q with punishment for a certain bad behavior and DON'T follow through, I will get more of the bad behavior because there are no real consequences. Someone should tell that to our President, who threatened Syria to not cross the "red line" of using chemical weapons...or else. Well, they have, and we don't seem to have any idea what "or else" actually means. I'm not necessarily in favor of intervening in Syria. I have no idea who the "rebels" are and I'm not inclined to arm a new group of jihadis who will turn their wrath on us when they defeat Assad. I've learned that lesson. But if you're going to make threats, you better damn well be prepared to back them up SOMEHOW or you should just keep your yapper shut and let the poop hit the fan.
IF YOU'VE LOST POLITICO... I find this column in Politico fascinating. Apparently, the lefties over there just noticed our President's arrogance. I guess this means they are racist now.
MALKIN SCHOOLS RUBIO You know I love Marco Rubio. Strike that. Like Marco Rubio. His naivety on the immigration bill really has me concerned that he is not quite up to speed on how things really work in DC. Michelle Malkin has no such illusions and provides a great history lesson on immigration reform efforts in years past.
