SHOULD GOD GET YOU DQ'ED? This story is more proof that political correctness has reached an unsustainable place. A track relay team in Texas was disqualified when the young man who crossed the finished line raised his pointed finger to the sky in a gesture to God. And his entire track team was banned from the state finals because of a rule that bans excessive celebration, including hand gestures. This is yet another story of pc police and zero tolerance rules proving to be utterly stupid in practice.
UPDATE: Apparently this was NOT a religious issue. The young runner was told not to raise his arms over his head in celebration. The same way every track and field star has done since the beginning of racing. This is just as stupid. We may be trying to teach our young people good sportsmanship, but we also need to allow kids to lose to someone oboxious. That's life. It happens.
LET OPERATION PERSONAL DESTRUCTION BEGIN! Today is the day the Benghazi whistleblowers will have their day before a House committee, but the movement to make them all seem like kooks and liars is on. Circle the wagons, and shoot anything that moves seems to be the State Department's mantra on this one. But this is the same State Department so concerned with it's own failures that no one has been fired for incompetence yet. I say "yet" in a fit of hope, but I'm not sure it will ever happen. Michelle Malkin nails it.
STAY CLASSY, GUEST OF JASON BIGGS Apparently Jason Biggs' wife IS someone and if you don't know that, she will rip you on Twitter. And the C-J didn't so they have been told to engage in a sexual act via twitter. For some reason, I went and looked at Jenny Mollen's twitter feed and saw two things. One, she's profane and obscene while trying (and mostly failing) to be funny. Two, I still have no clue who she is. And nor do I care. This is what happens when you fawn over D-listers.
THE NBA DREAM OVER? A new study by Price Waterhouse says Louisville doesn't have enough corporations to support an NBA team and that if we did get one, it would simply drain resources away from existing events. I can't say I'm sad. I've lived in an NBA city and the excitement and passion for UofL basketball far outstrips any NBA fervor I've seen. Let's just be the greatest college basketball city in the world, k?
THE DEMS MUST BE CONFUSED ABOUT THIS ONE A famous brother for one candidate and a scandal plagued past of the other should have been a slam dunk in South Carolina. But a funny thing happened on the way to Congress, and Mark Sanford, the shamed former Governor, won a special election. He and his mistress/fiancee will be headed to DC. And the Democrats have to be scratching their heads on why they managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
GUN CRIME IS WAY DOWN. BUT NO ONE KNOWS THAT Unless you are a 2nd Amendment supporter who knows actual facts you may not know that gun crimes have plunged since the early 90's. The LA times doesn't seem to know this, but if you look at the rise of concealed carry and Stand Your Ground laws you will see a commensurate drop in gun crimes in the areas where those things have been expanded. Imagine if Chicago would adopt common sense gun laws like those how low gun crime might be now. They are wrecking our average.
