UNTIL 11, THEN IT'S TIME TO TALK ABOUT A SCHOOL Doss High School is a Priority school, formerly known as a Persistent Low Achieving school. Today at 11, the principal of Doss, Ken Moeller is coming in to talk about what is changing at Doss and why it doesn't seem to be changing fast enough to most of us. I've had the opportunity to go to Doss and see what's being done there. It's impressive, and I hope it will be effective. What I can honestly say is that is won't be for lack of trying on behalf of Administrators and teachers there. They are all in.
IN A MOVE THAT SHOCKED NO ONE The Governor decided to saddle Kentuckians with even more debt and spending relating to Medicaid by expanding it. We will likely welcome more than 300,000 more people onto the budget line item that is the 2nd biggest already (education is first) with no way to pay for it when the copays kick in. But what does he care? He'll be long retired by then and his kids and grandkids can always move to Indiana when the bill comes due, right? Because this Governor has never met a federal dollar he couldn't wait to spend, consequences be damned.
MEDICAID DOES NOT SAVE LIVES, NO MATTER WHAT BESHEAR SAYS Check this article from Forbes about how ineffective Medicaid is at improving health outcomes. He can put lipstick on that pig all he wants, but it's still a pig. Read the article here, and click through the links, it is worth your time.
ANOTHER ONE POPS UP... And a new web ad begins to knock her down. Allison Lundegren Grimes best be ready for an entire campaign of this kind of ad, because the GOP is not giving up McConnell's seat with a fight. A vicious fight if need be. It's going to take someone with real cajones to run against Mitch. Which might explain why every high profile MALE Democrat has already begged off. They are counting on a vicious campaign against a GIRL to backfire because she's, well, a girl and men shouldn't pick on girls. Unless they are women's lib types, in which case you can't pick on them because they will kick your butt.
PAGING AL GORE, PAGING AL GORE... Tornado activity reaches a 60 year low. That's an inconvenient truth for Mr. Gore, who famously predicted more killer tornadoes because of global warming. I'm sure as he's taking his daily bath in a tub full of money he made on this scam he's crying softly over his wrongness. Yes, that's really what I think he does. And now you have that visual too. I shouldn't be the only one to suffer.
THIS WARMS MY HEART College students don't want big government. Not sure how this translates into the overwhelming numbers of them who vote Democrat, but it seems to me there is an opportunity here for a political party who believes in smaller government. That might be the Republicans, but I'm not totally sold on that notion with today's current party.
