WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY IN OKLAHOMA IS NOTHING SHORT OF HORRIFIC and it is times like these that I am grateful I believe in God. As I make my donation to the Red Cross and wait to see what else I can provide for the people who's entire lives and livelihoods were destroyed, I can pray that the people affected somehow find comfort and peace as they try to put things back together. And I can pray that the people who lost loved ones can find the strength to carry on. What a terrible, awful tragedy. I've said it a million times, I'll take a Cat 5 Hurricane over a twister like this. At least you have the chance to get the hell out of the way.
ADAMS V. BESHEAR, ROUND 1 David Adams believes, I think rightly so, that the Governor overstepped his Constitutional bounds when he set up the healthcare exchange without Legislative approval. Today at 9:30, I'll check in with David to see what happened in yesterday's hearing about whether or not a taxpayer has standing to challenge the exchange.
HOW DID CRIT LUALLEN MISS ALL THIS? Prosecutors say Reechie Farmer was running the Ag Department like a drunken monkey long before 2008 and they intend to show prior crimes during his trial. They aren't charging him because the statute of limitations has run out, but it certainly adds more to the pile on of evidence they apparently have against him. Why his attorney doesn't convince him to plea this out, I have no idea. Then again, maybe Reechie is looking forward to three hots and a cot. He doesn't seem to have much desire to actually work for a living. Let's not forget that Crit Luallen audited the Ag Department three times during his tenure. Seems she missed some stuff.
REALLY, GREG STUMBO? REALLY? Many of you may not remember but the reason the House and Senate's redistricting plan was thrown out was NOT because BOTH plans were unconstitutional. Only ONE was, but because they were put together in one bill, both had to go. For the record, it was the HOUSE bill that violated the law by splitting up counties unfairly and unnecessarily. So to read Greg Stumbo bloviating about how the House has already passed it's plan and it's just waiting on the Senate is annoying the you-know-what out of me. If you had done your job properly TWO YEARS AGO, Speaker, we wouldn't be doing this now. Sheesh. He should be ashamed of himself, but you have to have some sort of humility to feel ashamed, so I guess that's out.
REALLY JUICY RUMORS About more whistleblowers possibly coming forward with VERY juicy info about what really happened in Benghazi. As this is utterly unsubstantiated, I will refrain from comment until it comes about or not, but it is juicy. Read the whole thing yourself here.
LEAKS ARE BAD, UNLESS THEY ARE GOOD Apparently the DoJ, which decided to bug reporters phones to ferret out leaks, leaked some damaging information about one of the Fast and Furious whistleblowers. Oddly, the DoJ didn't seem to go after any of the reporters who ran with that leak. Strange, don't you think?
REVEL IN YOUR VICTIMHOOD, CONSERVATIVES! This column made me laugh as it exalts conservatives to make the most of our new found victim status. Until I realized a lot of this is done by groups every day to get their way. This is my favorite part:
“Victim” is America’s word for Holy, and their advocates are our saints, imbued with the power of determining the limits of public discourse and starting “national conversations” in which only one side is allowed to speak.
