GEORGE GILDER IS KIND OF A GENIUS JERK FOR STANDING ME UP. His book Wealth and Poverty became the bible for supply side economics. His new book Knowledge and Power: The Information Theory of Capitalism and How it is Revolutionizing our World is no less brilliant. You all need to read it. Buy it here.
THE SENATE IS GONNA PASS THE IMMIGRATION MONSTROSITY If there has ever been a clearer demonstration of how far from what the Founder's intended we've fallen, this bill is it. The Senate is supposed to be the deliberative body. The body that took on big issues in a plodding, thoughtful way. This cramming through of legislation that most of the Senators not only didn't read, but likely WON'T read is sickening. Just sickening. Still waiting to hear what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell did to bring all the Republicans in line. Because it sure as hell didn't work.
IRS ATTITUDES START AT THE TOP Kudos to the American Spectator for this excellent report on just how cozy Valerie Jarrett is with the IRS employees union head. Read this and it gets even harder to think that the White House had no influence on what was happening over there.
JOHN DAVID DYCHE ASKS THE RIGHT QUESTIONS Of Alison Lundergan Grimes in his recent column on WDRB. Is she going to give the right answers? Or any answers at all? The Democrats have to be coming unglued about this wishy washiness she's displaying. Are you in or out?
PREZBO PLAYS CLIMATE HARDBALL The President, who obviously hasn't seen any of the latest climate science, is going to use Executive Orders and increased power for the EPA to curb so-called man made climate change. Fine, if he wants to skip Congress, Congress should re assert it's power by simply defunding the EPA. If they don't do something drastic like that, we have unilateral rule by the White House. Something Dems may love now, but what about when a Republican gets in the big chair? I think they may feel differently. Time to say enough damage to the American economy via Executive Order. Period.
MY CRAZY HUNGARIAN GRANDMOTHER WAS RIGHT! My Gramma, who was certifiably nuts, would yell at us if we watched tv in our pajamas because she thought the cable people were watching US. How right you were, Gramma. Read this and reconsider what you do it front of the boob tube. And what you're wearing while you do it.
MONOGAMY IS UNNATURAL Which is why it takes effort and commitment to remain monogamous. It is one of those things that make us BETTER than the animals of the world. That and thumbs. Should we ditch monogamy?
WHERE DID OUR RIGHTS GO? This Opinion piece in the NYTimes reminds me of when the Times didn't suck. Because it was written by an old editor. But it asks the right questions, even if ultimately the default "we must trust government" position wins out.
A MODERN DAY MORALITY TALE This is a fun bedtime story to tell your kids so they will understand when the US of A collapses under the weight of it's own debt.
