MAJOR NIDAL HASAN'S TRIAL IS FINALLY UNDERWAY The alleged Fort Hood shooter is facing court martial, and the process is underway. The jury has been selected, and from all appearances, the prosecution will be after the death penalty. Even as I don't support the death penalty, it's hard to argue this guy doesn't deserve it if found guilty. He's already stirring things up by saying he's being forced to wear his uniform, as he says the Army uniform "represents an enemy of Islam". He's also shared his desire to use a "defense of others" defense because he was protecting Muslims and the Taliban on the battlefield. How is this not combat, if he intention is to aid the enemy?
WE HAVE A NEW CONTRACT WITH THE EDUCATION EMPLOYMENT UNION There are some minor changes that are designed to give principals more flexibility in hiring, but I don't see a whole lot of upside from the last contract. We'll see if anything really changes.
BUT HE'S SO DREAMY Rolling Stone, which has been a magazine not worth reading for about a decade now, has stepped in it. They've chosen to use the glamour shot selfie photo of the accused Boston Bomber on the cover. Which makes him seem glamorous, a little like Jim Morrison. This will just inspire those insipid girls who don't have a real girlfriend to glamorize him a little bit more. The article may be fantastic, but the apparent fan worship on the cover will keep most from reading it.
BECAUSE THE NAKED PHOTOS AREN'T ENOUGH If you valet your car at the airport, the TSA could search it. I'm guessing you don't actually give your consent, because most people would tell them to go to hell. But of course, it's for the children. Wait, not, security. Yes, that's it. Security. But just ignore all those other cars who's owners parked them themselves. Nothing to see there.
IS JIMMY CARTER...GASP...RIGHT? I don't get former President Jimmy Carter. He is now decrying the loss of freedoms and civil liberties, but it has been HIS party that not only LOVES this but has expanded government control into every aspect of our lives. Of course they've done so with the willing help of the Republicans, but if you believe in Big Government, you should know what his predecessor Gerald Ford knew. And that is:
"A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."
Should've seen in coming, Jimmy, should've seen it coming.
I THINK ALL CLIMATE ALARMISTS SHOULD GIVE UP AC Because according to this assinine column, that's the right thing to do. Obviously he lives in a place where it's only sweltering for a few weeks, maybe a month at at time. I say move his butt to the Everglades and then let him carp about getting rid of air conditioning. Idiot.
GUESS WHO HATES OBAMACARE NOW? The same unions who helped get it passed. Because instead of listening to people who had actually read the bill, or even reading it themselves, they took the word of politicians who know unions will vote for them regardless of how little they care about the consequences for union members. It's nice being a voting bloc that it totally taken for granted, isn't it?
EDWARD SNOWDEN MAY WANT TO RETHINK ASYLUM THERE A Putin critic has been found guilty of embezzlement and sentenced to five years in prison. Proving that only bad people criticize Putin! Or how easy it is to frame someone for embezzlement.
