TODAY AT 10:45 MATT BEVIN WILL BE ON THE SHOW Why? I think we all know what he's going to say. But this guy is interesting. And after I spoke with him yesterday, I am convinced that if anyone can beat McConnell in a primary, it's him. And judging from the activity coming out of the McConnell campaign, I'd say they have some concerns about him as well. Which is why the dirt is already flying. I'll ask Matt about the tax lien story being pimped in the press. If this is any indication of how this primary is going to go, this could end up being like watching someone run over a bunny with a tank. Not that Matt Bevin is a helpless bunny, but this is going to be ugly fast. Voters, if you want the negative campaiging to continue forever, keep rewarding it with your support. If not, perhaps you should demand discussion about the issues. But hey, all's fair in love and politics, right? This ain't tiddly winks. Find out more about Matt Bevin by clicking here.
DOCTORS TALKING ABOUT DRUG ABUSE After our conversation yesterday about the rise in heroin use in Kentucky I got a call from Dr. James Murphy about an event this Friday for doctors about safely prescribing pain pill medication. He's coming on to talk about the event and drug abuse in the Commonwealth from a doctor's perspective. Find out more about the ROPE Event by clicking here.
NICE RETURN IF YOU CAN GET IT So a judge ruled the city owes firefighters 12% interest annually on the money they were shorted by the City. The shorting aside, where did they get 12% as the rate of return, and what investment vehicle returns that every year? Because that's where I'm putting my money.
WHERE IS THE OUTCRY? Two years ago, a young black man was shot and killed in Algonquin Park after fight broke out and someone pulled a gun. There were witnesses. But yesterday the charges were dropped against the man accused of killing Cody Cantrell. Were they dropped because the justice system doesn't care about the death of a young black man? No. They were dropped because a key witness can't be found and witnesses have changed their story. This, after Roderick Thomas turned himself into police for the crime. But the man who killed him was black. So keep moving, there is nothing to see here.
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WAR ON WOMEN AND DECENCY Anthony Weiner is gross. And it remains to be seen whether New Yorkers are willing to forgive him sending nasty photos via text to yet ANOTHER woman AFTER the time when he got caught with his pants down while in Congress. Carlos Danger may find himself on the outside looking in as more and more people are telling him to pull out. Of the race. And off in San Diego, the Democrat mayor has even more women coming forward with stories of his piggish and degrading behavior towards women. War on women indeed! Not that you'd know he was a Democrat from this article, which conveniently never mentions his party affiliation. Compare that to CNN's coverage of the Mark Foley scandal. The first WORD in the story is Republican. But media bias is a made up thing, right?
IT WASN'T THE EVIL BANKS, IT WAS IRRESPONSIBLE HOMEOWNERS When you buy more house than you can afford, it's your fault. That's not what the Government wanted us to think when the housing market crashed. Democrats in particular rushed to point the finger at "predatory lenders" and did their best to make homeowners the victims. But let's see what's happening with some of those "victims" who got help from the government. They are defaulting at an alarming rate. Why? Because they bought a house they can't afford. Period.
