Louisville's unexpected early exit in the NCAA tournament was a tough way to end what had been a thoroughly enjoyable season. The first year in the magnificent new KFC/YUM! Center gave us an unimaginable thrill ride, with big comebacks, buzzer-beating finishes, and energetic and enthusiastic crowds night after night.
This Cardinal team far exceeded everyone's expecations with tenacious defense, unselfish and often spectacular offense, and a never-give-up attitude that brought them back time and time again. It was a recipe that kept the Cards from ever losing back-to-back games...until the last second Big East Tournament loss to UConn, and the last second NCAA tournament loss to Morehead State. In the end, the final game was a microcosm of the season. The Cards made mistakes, but battled back from an awful start to gain the lead. Then just when you thought they might be over the hump another hurtful injury (Preston Knowles' foot) again knocked them for a loop. Still not until a Morehead 3 point shot in the closing seconds, and a miss by the Cards at the horn did U of L's memorable season come to a conclusion.
Wait till next year!...
