CARDINALS BOWL BOUND?
Wednesday 11-10-2010 7:48am ET
The Louisville Cardinals may or may not make it to a bowl game this year, but the fact that a post-season appearance is within reach is way more than most people were expecting this season. Players and coaches deserve equal credit. Charlie Strong has made every right decision since he came to Louisville. It started with the extraordinary staff he put together. Then the players immediately bought into what that staff demanded. The result has been a tough, resilient team that never quits in a game. With three games remaining UL is 5-4. An 8-4 record is possible, but to be realistic, so is 5-7. Have you looked at the Big East Standings? Pitt is 3-0 and there is essentially a 7-way tie for second. Every other team has two losses! There's no way to know who will emerge from that log-jam on top, but hey, why not Louisville? Afterall, the Cards have already over-achieved in the eyes of many. Why stop now?

Teriffic game and atmosphere Friday night at PJCS. The Cards had their chances, but in the end UC played like the two-time defending Big East Champions that they are. Louisville picked off Zach Collaros twice...he had been intercepted just once all season until then...but he also stung the Cards with five touchdown passes. Louisville's Bilal Powell put together his second straight 200 yard rushing game that included one of the most dazzling touchdowns you will ever see (or hear!) Click Here

The Cardinals' 23 points all came in the second quarter. While the other three quarters of the game may have lacked pizazz, that second quarter was quite entertaining, with some stellar defensive play, including a safety; another big special teams play...Vic Anderson now has two long kickoff returns, and one of the most memorable moments I have witnessed in all my years of watching Cardinal football. Doug Beaumont's long awaited first touchdown reception brought about a gushing wave of adoration and admiration from fans, teammates and coaches. No one deserves that more than Beaumont, a Louisville native who simply loves the game, and does everything right...on and off the field. As coach Strong said, "Give me eleven Doug Beaumonts, and we will win a lot of games."
