Welcome to the "Producer's Corner" where you'll find news and notes from Morning Show Producer Scott Fitzgerald.
You’ve put answering it thinking there’s still plenty of time. Now you’re at the point where you have to find a solution. This is Scott Fitzgerald and what am I talking about? How are we going to pay for Christmas this year.
For those serving on active duty in the military (even you DoD civilian contractors) I may have the solution. A Navy Federal gorewards credit card. With a Navy Federal GoRewards credit card you earn points for travel, gift cards or even merchandise (which means more Christmas presents for this year or even next). But here’s what separates Navy Federal from the others. If you sign on now and spend $1,000 Navy Federal Credit Union will GIVE you 15,000 additional points!
For those serving our military why Navy Federal? Because they’ve been serving the military for 80 years now and have amassed over 4 million members (to include yours truly). Any member of ANY branch is eligible for membership, but you have to join while on active duty.
You can visit navyfederal.org or (for our neighbors near Ft. Knox) you can visit the local branch NEAR Ft. Knox at 137 E. Lincoln Trail Boulevard in Radcliff/
Navy Federal is financially solid and Federally insured by the NCUA.

Rutgers Fires Basketball Coach After Video Goes Public. Rutgers fired Mike Rice, the coach of its men’s basketball team, on Wednesday, a day after a video surfaced showing him berating his players during practices, throwing balls at them, kicking them and taunting them with slurs. Rice’s termination comes nearly four months after the university’s athletic director, Tim Pernetti, suspended him for three games and fined him $50,000, with little elaboration. On Wednesday, Pernetti called that decision a mistake and said that he would “work to regain the trust of the Rutgers community.” Rutgers announced Rice’s termination on its Twitter account Wednesday morning, saying, “Based upon recently revealed information and a review of previously discovered issues, Rutgers has terminated the contract of Mike Rice.” Rice could not be immediately reached for comment. ESPN broadcast video on Tuesday from practices from 2010 to 2012 that showed Rice’s conduct at practices. The video went viral, putting scrutiny on Rutgers and prompting the university to take further action. How does Rutgers restore its image after this coaching scandal? President Barack Obama will put 5% of his paycheck back into the federal government's coffers in a show of unity with furloughed federal workers, a senior administration official said Wednesday. Obama, whose $400,000 annual salary is set in law and can't officially be changed, will write a check made out to the U.S. treasury every month beginning in April. Since the mandatory across-the-board spending cuts went into effect March 1, his payment for last month will be paid retroactively. "The president has decided that to share in the sacrifice being made by public servants across the federal government that are affected by the sequester, he will contribute a portion of his salary back to the Treasury," the official said. On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced he was giving up the portion of his salary that would have been cut if he had been subject to the same work furlough as thousands of department personnel under the mandatory federal budget cuts.
